Screencasts
Check out my YouTube Playlist called “Project Based Learning and the Common Core.” Almost all of these are screencasts that I created using Camtasia Studio, a Logitech C920 webcam and my trusty re-built Win7 PC.
Screencasts have become the mainstay of flipped classroom instruction:
- Targeted instruction.
- Low production value. (Khan Academy emphasized that lesson.)
- Short web distribution, typically YouTube.
Many of these videos were developed with the support of Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District (FSUSD). I focused on how to use the edstop portal and Discovery Streaming, an exceptionally fine subscription service. I had these goals:
- Create how-to videos of value for teachers and users
- Organize what I know into a brief video course of study
- Learn by doing
- Save time and become efficient
- Avoid repeating the same explanations again and again
